Well Saturday was another beautiful April day, perfect for doing yard work.....
So I hooked up the boat under the cover of darkness and off we went, missed the turn off so took a couple extra minutes to get to the boat launch, but still the first boat there... we quickly launched and headed out to the lake. Decided to try a new spot today so a little bit of a bumpy 10 km run to our spot, but we made it.
Once set up my buddy took our first fish off the dipsey diver after about 15 minutes of fishing!!!! Unfortunately the bite was a little tougher today but we carried on... changing depths, techniques and lures picking up a fish here and two fish there, here a fish, there a fish..... and ended decent morning of fishing around 12 noon.
We mixed things up today using dipsey divers, downriggers, 4 colour lead core with crankbaits, 5, 7 and 10 colours of leadcore. For baits we ran NK spoons, deep diving crankbaits and Spin Doctors with Spin n Glows and Freedom Tackle's Herring Cutbait lures. In the end 50% of our fish came off of Freedom Tackle's Herring Cutbait lure Spin Doctor combination on 5 colour leadcore.
Gotta love it... sunny weather, warm, calm water and fish!!!
Here are a few of our fishy friends that visited the boat today....
A little snack while waiting for the fish to bite...

What a great fishing report, Jim.
I haven’t fished the big lake yet, but definitely reports like yours are educational and motivating.
