Muskie outing continued

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Muskie outing

Post by John Thompson »

IS this open to anyone? I am really only starting to Muskie fish (learning as I go) and finally landed a 36 incher last weekend. I would be really up for this but don't want to impose if this is an outing between friends. I do have a boat and they're would be 2 of us coming. Any info greatly appreciated.

Okay count me in. I'll be bringing a buddy and have room for one more in my boat.

SO, how does the BBQ work? Do we chip in on cost or bring our own? Put me down for help where ever needed.

BBQ ideas

Post by JP »

As per the poll, everone seems to want burgers. I will bring a Big BBQ and Get the burgers, buns, pops, chips, ect. If everone chips in $5. it will cover the cost. There will be tones of food.
Figure I need a hell of a lot of burgers, Muskie fishing makes me hungry
But, if everone wants to bring their own, I'll still bring the BBQ.
Let me know.

2 notes from me.

1. my family is traveling with me, but will not be fising. So only I'm looking for a boat to join.

2. I'm not interested in pursuing Muski fishing as a full time hobby. I will fish Muski until I have the trophy I'm looking for. If I participate in this weekend, I'd like to have the option of keeeping that one muski I'm looking for if I luck into it. If the C&R policy is being enforced on this outing, then I will have to back out. No hard feelings and I don't want this to turn into a shouldn't keep muski thread...I just can't make the long trek to Ottawa knowing I may catch the fish I'm looking for and then have to look at a bunch of long faces when i show up at the dock with it.

I appreciate that Big-O, I just don't want to go against the grain. If the organizers want to organize a C&R only day, i'll respect that.

Markus, I don't have a problem with you keeping a trophy if you are lucky enough to get one and you want to mount it! It is our choice as fisherman to keep a legal fish or release it! My choice is usually to release fish but I do enjoy the occasional meal of fish and keep them from time to time. I think the important thing is that we get a bunch of Hawk Talkers together for hopefully a good days fishing, a chance to meet other Hawk talkers, swap stories, and in my case hopefully learn something about Muskie fishing.

Just a clarification to your list, I have a boat (an old 16 foot Lund with a 25 horse) but not much lunge experience. Hoping to pick up so tips at this outing.
