Central Frontenac Report

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Central Frontenac Report

Post by Corvus Lacus »

With the cooler nights, the water temps have dropped and Bass are moving back into the shallows periodically...this pattern usually holds up until the lakes flip sometime next month. This is my favourite time of year...with the frogs starting to migrate...topwater presentations are usually killer. However, sometimes the Smallies are in a neutral mood...they'll take a sniff at your popper or frog, and turn away at the last second. Or the surface is too choppy for surface baits. The last couple of seasons, I've been trying Spybaits when the bite is off. It's become my "go to"...especially in clear water. This one came on a Duo Realis 80...straight do-nothing retrieve... just cast, countdown to depth, and crank it in nice and steady (no change in speed, no pauses, no jerks).
