Cheap solution for easy loading of sled when you are alone. Last year I would back up to a snow bank or if 2 people we would pull sled up ramps. Too heavy to load if I was alone so here is what I did to keep costs low and load under 30 seconds.
I bought a manual winch from princess auto, removed the handle and welded to handle nut to the bolt. So all i do is use my cordless drill with socket and that replaces the handle. I mounted the winch to piece of 2x8 and secured it in bed of truck using truck bed load bar. I have loaded my Eskimo Escape 2800 about 15 times this year so far and have had no issues with load bars holding. This is a cheap solution compared to a 12volt winch and is much much faster. I load mine in 12 seconds as you can see in the video. I have seen a lot of posts about this so thought I would share my setup and hopefully others will like how easy it is as much as I do.
My sled is pretty light but even so I found myself in hernia territory a few times this year so my solution is to take the stuff out of my sled, lift sled into the truck, and put the stuff back one at a time.
Works for me but I know eventually I'll leave something behind and either run it over when I back out or remember when I get home.
