Late Ice Panfish

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Late Ice Panfish

Post by Fisherman89 »

Decided to get out on the ice once more yesterday to finish off my ice season. Decided to go to my favourite panfish lake in search of some crappies.

I started off with tungsten jig head and wax worms. That did the trick, but I got tired of rebaiting after every other fish, so switched to a soft plastic for a bit. The bluegills were very agressive and I ended up switching to a 1/12oz VMC Tumbler spoon with no bait and they had no problem going after that.

By the end of the day I had caught a countless number of bluegill, a single crappie :( , a few out of season bass, and a 30" pike to end it off. Sure is fun catching a big pike on panfish gear!

Here are a few pics from the day and a short video clip. I'll be back out there ice out to find those crappies!
