That one big laker got me wanting more. So looking at the wind forecast this Wednesday was the day. Left my house at 3:30 drove down to Kingston got there by 6 launched by 6:30 and lines in by 7.

Start trolling my area and not long my rod folds over. A nice trout!

I keep trolling and land fish after fish. One of my best days ever especially solo.

I was using my clamp on downrigger on one side and leadcore on the other. Both running as close to bottom as possible. I fished 40-50ft of water all day. Spoons were definitely the ticket today. Especially watermelon coloured spoons.

Way to go ! Nice job...especially handling a boat, a manual rigger, and fish all by yourself on the big lake..
That's an incredible fishery.

Nice job man! Great day on the water!

What size boat are you running out there? Looks like a Jon boat.

Thanks Corvus!! Was a fun challenge. I’ve only recently started fishing lake Ontario and it’s becoming my favourite place to fish.

It’s a Mod-V so basically a Jon boat. 15ft with a 15hp tiller. Have to pick the right days to go out but this year the weather been amazing.

After seeing my success last time my buddy Chris wanted to join me for some lakers. So we got up early and headed to Kingston.

After a little rip out we get out lines set up and not 5min first fish!!

No good picture of this one because the other rod goes off as we’re taking pictures.

With both lines in we turn back around to set up to troll over the spot again. Not long and another fish on. Not thinking I let Chris take 2 in a row so his fish again!

We keep trolling but no more fish. Try moving spots still nothing. Even tried changing colours and nothing not even a hit. About 3 hours passing with nothing and we head back to the launch and call it a day. Both of us had afternoon plans anyway

Thanks for the info. It's good to know that that size boat can handle the big lake on the calmer days.

RIght now I do all my open water fishing from a canoe, but I'm hoping to upgrade to a boat next season. I've been eyeing the G3 1548 and 1652 Mod-V tiller models.

Only fish of the day but it was longer than my bump board at 36.5. So estimated to be 38ish. Hard time getting a weight on it but the scale was bouncing between 20 and 21lbs.

I was trolling a 5” watermelon patterned spoon. Watermelon has been a very hot colour for me.
