Help Save St. Lawrence River Wall-eye Association Online Event

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Help Save St. Lawrence River Wall-eye Association Online Event

Post by Mike Barkley »

Hey everyone, good morning, I'm in need of some help so I'm messaging everywhere and everyone who is into fishing, as this is pretty near and dear to me. But a few months ago I was sent this post about the St. Lawrence River Walleye Association, they have this program its a re-stocking program they restock the St. Lawrence with wall-eye fingerlings, they been doing this for the past 18 years. And are at a point of losing there program , they need to raise $5000.00 each year to keep this program going. This re-stocking program would be great loss to lose . This re-stocking program enhance the St. Lawrence fishery which helps our fishing community, so I have offered to help. So I'm hoping to have an online auction for them to help raise the money they need to keep this program going. So anyone willing to donate any type of products to this auction or even 1 dollar every little bit will help keep this program alive I would really hate to see it go. I don't have a set date yet on the auction I will get that figured out. Anyone will to help with this would be greatly appreciated please reach out to me or Mike Gagner he is the president of the St. Lawrence River Wall-eye Association .
As well here is the message I sent
Hello friend’s, the St Lawrence River Walleye Association Inc. in conjunction with the St Lawrence Valley Sportsman Club have been restocking the St Lawrence River with Walleye fingerlings for the last 18 year’s, with the cooperation of the NYSDEC, raising approximately 50-100k for release every year. We are currently running out of funding to continue this project. We are seeking a fundraising chairperson so we may continue this project for year’s to come! We obtain the adult fish, fertilize the eggs, hatch the eggs to fry then release the fry in to our pond’s feed them, grow them to fingerling length drain ponds and transport them to the SLR. This is a great project for the river! We have all the equipment and volunteer’s necessary to continue this process, but funding is needed and necessary to continue. The cost per year is about 5k. As we all know volunteer’s and $$ is hard to come by in any non profit group these days! We have all necessary documentation to obtain funding as we are both 501-C3 tax exempt groups. We just need a person or people to take on this task in these well known non profit group’s. We both have thousand’s of dollars already invested in our infrastructure which is already in place. We hate to see this program end with so many year’s invested so much time invested and so much money invested! This project will take place this year. But it is in jeopardy! With the many angler’s in our fishing communities who enjoy the sport and the harvest, we need your help! It’s a fun group, a fun and educational project with great rewards to our river communities. Help us keep the St Lawrence River a great fishing destination for generation’s to enjoy! This is a family friendly encouraged group! Please contact me Mike Gagner St Lawrence River Walleye Association President, or Gregory Denny St Lawrence Valley Sportsman’s Club President for any inquiries. #WeNeedYourHelp
But lets keep this program alive if your able to help in anyway that would be truly appreciated thanks and The auction will be May 26th online on facebook page name - Help Save St. Lawrence River Wall-eye Association

Hello everyone,

If you ever fish the St. Lawrence River for walleye please consider supporting this cause. The organization is on the US side of the St. Lawrence, but the fish don't know not to cross to the Canadian side, lol, so everyone the fishes the river benefits.

Here is a link to the Facebook page for the fund raiser happening later this month, lots of great prizes up for grabs.
