Peterborough ON area Fishing Maps?

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Peterborough ON area Fishing Maps?

Post by duik »

Looking for fishing maps for lakes in around Peterborough ON
Balsam Lake, Pigeon Lake, Buckhorn Lake, Rice Lake/Otonabee River
Smallmouth/Largemouth Bass mainly.

Hoping to take my daughter out opening weekend, but want a lake that won't have a lot of BIG boats and Sea Doos flying by when trying to Bass fish...any suggestions would be appreciated (I know, all the lakes will be busy that weekend, but it's the speed boats and sea doos that I want to avoid, not other fishing boats).

I have a 16ft LUND, so pretty easy to get in/out.

Thanks!

Angler's Atlas is usually a good place to start. You just need a free account to download the maps.

Fish-hawk also has a navionics page, but it doesn't seem to work for me anymore: https://www.fish-hawk.net/navionics.php

All those lakes you mention will be VERY busy opening weekend. They're all on the Trent-Severn system so lots of big boats, and the shorelines are lined with cottages so plenty of SeaDoos, and kayaks, and paddleboards, and pedal boats...you name it.

Try one of the smaller quieter lakes north of there in the Kawartha Highlands around Aspley. Paudash and Eels are both excellent Bass lakes. A little further north Baptiste/Elephant is good too.

Fish Online will show species, depth contours and boat ramps. Link below. The Navionics app will also give you more detailed charts.

I 2nd Elephant / Benoir / Baptiste. If you aren't into going that far, Bass Lake just outside Bobcaygeon can be a fun little lake and is usually fairly quiet. Used to hold some big bass, have one on our wall as proof.
