Johnny Morris Signature Reel Spool

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Johnny Morris Signature Reel Spool

Post by veja11 »

Hello all,

Long time reader here, first post.

I suppose I could consider myself a stream trout fisherman at heart, now adjusting to new surroundings where trout are, unfortunately, less plentiful without a 2-3 hr drive. Anyways I have learned a lot about new species, potential locations and techniques reading this forum, it has been greatly helpful.

Today I am writing with a question: does anyone have any advice on how get my hands on a spare spool for a Johnny Morris Signature spinning reel? I have called Cabela's and they couldn't help [will tangent on planned obsolescence on another day!]. Haven't seen them come up at all on the forum or on the auction sites, which is a bit surprising. Otherwise I think it's a relatively solid reel and would like to have the option of a second spool for use with different line.

I have also tried the OEM angle. Comparing schematics, I have a high degree of certainty that the current signature series spinners are old Daiwa Procyon models, maybe from 10 yrs ago, before the LR versions arrived. Unfortunately the old Procyons are too far gone so haven't come across their parts listed anywhere either.

If anyone might have insights on this, I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks!

Bora
