Any safe ice on Mississippi or Clayton/Taylor?

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Any safe ice on Mississippi or Clayton/Taylor?

Post by Scum Frog »

Just wondering if anybody has had a chance to check out, or maybe even get out on the ice on Mississippi ( Grasshopper or by Baitcasters) or Clayton/Taylor?

RRC, We were hoping to get our shack out on the Mississippi yesterday. We always put it out across from Grasshopper Bay. Checked the ice and there is only about 2 inches. There was lots of top water.

This cold snap should make it good for later this week.

My fishin' partner was out on the Miss on Saturday. Bays are frozen solid 5 - 6", but anywhere that there is an current at all had between 2 4 " of ice. Hopefully with this cold snap we'll be able to get to the honey hole early next week with the shack!
