Thinking of buying a new baitcaster...

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

What exaclty to do mean by "Big Gurls" FLOATFISHIN?

It sounds like your a passionate Abu fan, and I'm all for passion, but it sounds like you're calling the 5500 some type of big fish reel. It isn't.

It's rated for 205 yards of 12lbs test. What "Big Gurls" are you fishing for with 12lb test? Muskies? I hope not. If you think you're going to going to hunt Musk with a boat full of 5500s, well, you obviously haven't unless you have 5500 dispenser and like losing big fish.

The Big Gurls i know, large 30-50lb Muskie and 30+lb Chinook require 40+ Mono on a good day, but most hardened Muskie hunters refer to 50+ lb Power Pro even 60+ Stainless!

You are right that a 5500 might be better than a LP Chronarch with a huge fish, mainly because of the greater line capacity, but either way you're using the wrong equipment.

I love it when guys say you need 30lb plus for Chinnies!!!!! I use a 4lb leader when floatin 30+ chinnies!!!!Might only get"20+ chinooks" but man

Abu's arent a good muskie reel?????????????????     If im goin out "Un equiped" when fishin abu's for Skies, I guess alot of guys are doin the "Wrong" thing!!!

I'll fish Abu's, and be happy with them, this aint a pee pee contest, and I say tomaaaato, you say Tomato.

I dont know of anyone who goes out with a "Reel dispenser" but I do know I fished Skies last year with nothin but C3's and was happier than a pig in well......

I'd for sure take a Calcutta over them anyday, but for the money, I was right pleased with them and will continue to use em,even if they are"No good for muskies" :P

P.S

I use 80 lb Power Pro, and the "Line Cap" on the reel, I cant cast 205 yards, nor would I want to even think of trollin 50 yards let alone 205 yards behind the boat

Ohh ya Power Pro's 80lb diamiter is thinner than 12lb mono is :P So I could get 205 yards of 80lb braid on the reel, with backing!!! :P

So Im "Unequiped"

Ohhhh ya remind me when you go out with 40lb mono for Chinnies, I'll be there to watch

I thought everyone used spincast or Zebco's for muskie :?

I'll let everyone know how my 5500 does this spring with the sturgeon too.
If I can find some :?

Have you though of a MG or Cabo, they are Quantum reels, I looked at them at the Carp show, they are a one piece frame and have a lot lower profile. They come in two sizes, the guy told me that he can get a 150 yards of 50lb Brade on the smaller sized reels in either model.
