Lake Description:
Crotch Lake, in the Land O' Lakes region of Eastern Ontario, is a huge lake with numerous areas of structure that equate to excellent walleye, northern pike and smallmouth bass fishing. Surrounded by Crown Land and narry a cottage to be seen on it, fishing on this lake is just like fishing on a private lake. There is not a lot of boat traffic, and there is always another cove or bay to hide in if you don't like sharing your fishing space.

Species:
For starters, there really isn't a lot of largemouth habitat, and what little there is, is high and dry several times a year due to fluctuating water levels - thanks to Ontario Hydro.

But these fluctuating water levels also set the stage for prime walleye fishing. And there is that on this lake. When the water level is rising or falling, look out for currents in the narrow parts of the lake.

Getting There:
From Ottawa take the Queensway west to Hwy 7 and follow it all the way to Hwy 509 (just after Silver Lake, just before Sharbot Lake). Head north on 509 for about 10 kms to Clarendon Station. Turn left (west) onto Ardoch Rd which becomes Clarendon Rd. About 10 kms from Clarendon Station you'll hit the bottom of Crotch Lake and keep your eyes open for the public boat launch. You can also launch at the marina at Tumblehome Lodge for a small fee.

Back in fawn lake Clown and I are convinced the LM poulation is going to be really good in a few years, we caught tonnes of small largemouths and quite a few larger ones were caught as well.
