AFF Lake Clear Outing

Post by Salar »

Hi Everyone,

The Algonkin Fly Fishers are having a fly fishing outing at Lake Clear this Sunday, August 17th. We will be meeting at the Opeongo Mountain Resort boat launch on Lake Clear at 10:00am. There is a fee to launch. We will meeting at Blueberry Island at 2:00 pm for a late lunch. For those who are bringing canoes or kayaks, there is an alternate launch site which is closer to the lunch spot. Details and a map are available from the calendar page of the Algonkin Fly Fishers club website.

Cheers,

Salar

Hi Salar, I was thinking about booking a family vacation at Opeongo. I have 2 sons who are fishing maniacs and my wife can tolerate these resorts if the facilities are clean and the water, beach is suitable for swimming. Do you think I can keep everyone happy there?? :)

Hi Streamtripper,

The fishing in Lake Clear can be excellent. There are some very large smallmouth bass in that lake.

I've never stayed at the Opeongo Mountain resort but I have launched there. The facilities seemed to be clean to me. As for the beach I've never swam there but I know the water in lake clear is very clean and clear.

I'd say you should be able to keep everyone happy.

Cheers,

Salar.

There are good places to swim / rock jump off some of the islands.

Opeongo Resort is at the end of the lake (far left on this map by where the creek is)

It is a great lake for fishing and your boys will need a week to fish it.
