Mississippi River

Post by bobfly »

Fished the Mississippi River at Appleton this evening for a couple of hours. Landed over a dozen good sized Crappies just off the launch and many strikes. This is my favorite place to fly fish, especially since it is only 20 minutes from my house. Best fly was Hamill Killer/Mrs Simpson but I think any large attractor would do. I don't recommend eating fish out of the river especially since it is downstream from Carleton Place. I always release so I may have caught the same one a few times. Great fun.

good work bobfly, gotta love those crappie. I agree with you about catch and release, especially if you fish the same spot more than once.
