More Blakeney

Post by Jigs »

After reading all about the place, had to make the trip late this afternoon. Got rained out, but its a pretty spot.

No fish to speak of; just a couple of real tiny bass. Had a look at the spot where the "no fishing" sign is above the bridge. That looks like a good spot to put a canoe in and fish up river. Earlier in the year it would probably be too fast there, but seems ok now.

Where is the Conservation area? Is there access to the water from there?

Would have liked to spend some more time today, but it was really coming down. Of course I drove out of it in a few minutes

Any info appreciated:

Jigs,

The conservation area is on the west side right at the bridge, though I don't recall seeing any signs when I was there. There is a large non-descript gravel area to park in as well as an outhouse and at least one picnic table that I saw. Access to the water is easy from the west side. As for fish, you have to wade out (with caution) for them. While I wasn't there long, the ones I was catching were averaging about 8", with the largest ones averaging around 12". Given some more time I'm sure I'll find some sweet spots that hold larger fish, especially down at the tailout.

Cheers,
Todd
