Advice on fly fishing rod/reel
Just to comparison shop you might want to check out Sports Action as well. They have some good starter kits as well. Also inquire into what the warranties are on the rods as this might sway your purchase decision.
Either way I'm sure you will have a blast with whatever package you decide to pick up.
As for flies, just let us know what species you're targeting, where you think you're going to be fishing and I'm sure you can get some suggestions for a good starter fly box.

"There wouldn't have been any butt kickings if that stupid death ray had worked."
The Orvis kit is pretty good since it is a 4-piece. Sports Action also has 4-piece rods at the same price point.
There are 2 advantages with 4-piece rods:
1) storage is easier
2) partablility
If you opt for a 4-piece rod, you must check the rod occasionally as you use it. The pieces tend to loosen a bit and you could see your tip section sinking to the bottom! (I know first-hand how that feels )

Time's fun when you're having flies.

Akira, since you asked for the best rod and reel, take a look at the 3 rod makers below.
Because I fish with bamboo, I found their prices a bit too high. So I have several bamboo rods from another excellent rod maker.
Good luck - carp-starter
