I fish for pike and use the 8wt to fling around 4"-6" bunny leeches and deceivers on a clear intermediate sink.

If they are hitting on the surface, i'll use a floating line and tie on a size 2 version of my favorite surface fly, the Stealth Bomber (http://www.flyfishga.com/stealth.htm) or Gartside Gurgler. On both of these surface flies, I tie on enough of a tail to make the fly 4"-5" long and use a Mustad 37187 "stinger" hook.

in the latest american angler fly fishing mag.

look page 47.......worlrecord musky on fly.

51 1/2 inch.mmmmmm  ..must been a blast. 8)

i got an 8 and also an 10 weight...for thotty critters.

some poper and fly i got are like 10 inch long so need back bones.

plus i dont want to tired the fish to mutch.

this is one prob wit flyfishing for some people....they like the fight off a musky..but they dont think it could kill the fish..so bring it in stop the playing and let it go as fast as possible.

have fun flying for pike/musky bud....... :P

I have been fishing with an extra large, very bright wooly bugger. Colours vary from shiny purple to yellow, to black to red and combinations of all of them. You have to tie them yourself.
Seems to work pretty well for pike.

Deceivers work pretty well too, but mice are the most fun.

Geoff,

Sounds like you're really getting into it! ;-)
