My Bamboo Fly Fishing Cane - Fixed

Post by LeGrand »

Even had a steel tube made for it to protect it.

Cane was given to me. It is a LEE & SON from Redhick, Uk dating early 1950's. It was broken at the ferrules (some missing), yarn was old and brittle, varnish was chipping. Got a guy from Châteuguay, QC (master bamboo builder) to bring it back to life. So now it can use real modern fly line, instead of old horse tail hair. It comes in 4 pieces biut assembles in 3 pieces. It was determined after testing that it is better suited for a 7 wt fly-line.

Not going to hang this baby on the wall. Going to used it.

Quote: "While most of us fly-fish to escape from daily life, for John Gierach and his friends fly-fishing IS a way of life. They are trout bums."

Maybe, just maybe.
