Fishing the AuSable

Post by Grouch »

Just back from my annual trip down to Wilmington N.Y. We fished a couple of hours Monday evening without success. Tuesday morning I caught a beautiful 12 in. Brown and a couple of small one, all caught on a March Brown. Though we fished all day that was all, with a break for supper we were back to fishing. I lucked into an 18 in. Rainbow, had a hell of a time landing as it was longer than the net I had. My buddy Rod watched all this without so much a a nibble, it wasn't until 8:45 pm Tuesday evening that Rod finally caught his first fish, a nice 9 in. Brown, we had agreed to quit at 9 pm no matter what. Fishing is prime down there right now.

Nice, the river always looks so nice when I am driving by it. Always wanted to wet a line there.

Any pictures of the beautiful fish?

I'm working on posting a couple of pics, new Apple computer and I'm still learning. If you get the chance take time to wet a line in the AuSable, this time of year the trout fishing is great. Access is no problem and 2 Fly shops in Wilmington to supply local info.
