I was up north last week to visit my sons family, and I got a chance to get out for an afternoon on the wanapitei. I thought I would give the clouser a good try. I laid 15' of line out to strip some line off the reel and had the first smallmouth on, that kind of day. There didn't seem to be a lot of size range, all fish 1 to 1 1/2 # and nothing but smallmouth bass. I was casting to structure and stripping back using an intermediate clear line. This clouser maxes out my 5 wt for easy casting.
