Fishfinder Turning off in rough water

Post by Seaweed »

Hi

Recently my Eagle Status has started turning off when I hit a good wave at speed.

It starts right back up no problem but it is slightly annoying to have to reboot it every time.

There is no apparent reason for this to be happening. No loose connections at the battery or the unit. It is mounted on a Ram mount that should help absorb the shock of the wave bump.

Anyone got any ideas what might be happening here or had any similar incidents? Looking for a cure. :x

It may be the on/off switch unless the unit requires the button to be held down when shutting off.

Im not an expert but it really sounds like a loose connection..where is it fused? Maybe a loose conection inside the unit?? Im sure someone has had this problem before and can help.

Loose power connection or a broken wire at a connection point. Look for a point in the wire where it can move when the boat bounces...odds are that will be the week/broken point in the power wires to the head unit.
