Seafoam @ Bensons

Post by CNs »

For those looking for seafoam, Try Bensons in bells corners. They are now stocking it. They have the single cans (12.99 they discount for 6 or more) and can order the gallon jugs (~70.00).

Is the $12.99 the price each when you 6 cans or is it cheaper yet when you buy 6 cans?

I bought a can yesterday at Napa and paid over $17.00 after taxes.

For those using Seafoam the correct ratio is 1oz seafoam per Gallon of gas. Each 16oz can will treat 16 Gallons at a cost of 0.92c per gallon (12.99+Tax)

Another option (and the one i now use) is to use Merc Quickleen which retails for about the same price $12.99 but it's used at a ratio of 1oz per 6 gallons. Each 12oz bottle will treat 72 Gallons at a cost of 0.20c per gallon.

Yamaha produces a product called 'Ring Free' which does the same thing but i've found it to be much more expensive around here.

It's also not a bad idea to run a stabilizer if you don't go through your gas within say 3-4 weeks. I actually run the marine stabil all the time to treat the negative effects of ethanol which all of our gas now contains. A bottle will run you about $24 at cdn tire but has a fairly low dose so it will last quite a while. As you can see from the link below Merc also has products for this.

Also most marinas have no clue or are misinformed about these products and their usage. The latest story i heard was from one marina who said "You only use that stuff once a year" this from a Merc dealer who doesn't read their literature which clearly states that Merc Quickleen is a preventative maintenance product to be used on a regular basis each time you fill up with gas.

yeah but they won't give a better price on quantity (6 or more)

Spray is used when winterizing or when you have a real problem

Seafoam also is a stabilizer and I use it in everything . I also only use SHELL v power 91 in all my two stroke or 4 stroke equipment because it is ethanol free . The only thing I run any ethanol crap in is maybe my truck .
