I need a new on-board battery charger, ideally a 2 or 3 bank,10 Amps per bank, but not looking to break my bank account.

Anyone have any experience with the NOCO Genius GEN 3 On-board Battery Charger sold at Canadian Tire. It is a 3 bank,10 Amps per bank on sale for $225.

Also any suggestions on decent deep cycle batteries, that are not $300 each.

Thanks

JimW

I installed a Noco 3 bank on my boat last year. one bank feeds my starting motor the other 2 are for my 24 volt electric motor.
Charges the batteries very quickly and so far no problems. Also CTC gives a five year exchange on the charger. I also purchased a
pair of 12 volt deep cycle from Total Battery for well under $ 300.00 for the pair with lots of warranty.
Good luck Laker

Never used a NOCO but I had an interstate deepcycle battery that was in the boat for 7 years and when I replaced the TM, I bought to more in group 27 or 29 (I forget). This is the third season on them and they are still running great.

I bought as NOCO G7200 to charge my trolling motor battery. Have used it for about two years and I am very pleased with it. This is not the same product you're looking for but I have heard nothing but good things about NOCO products and my own experience attests to the quality of their products.

As for deep cycle batteries, Costco has great ones and an amazing exchange policy (pro-rated based on use). I have one of their 27-series deep cycles and I have been using it now for two years for my trolling motor. Keeping it charged regularly with the NOCO is surely helping prolong its life.

I bought a Noco charger earlier this year as well, and I have been quite hapyp with it. It's not the same model as yours, but it charges my battery well, and comes with loads of other useful gimmics (like AGM mode, desulfation mode, equalization mode, etc)! Performs very well for the price, I would say!

No experience with that charger, but on your battery question: Purchased twin Kirkland group 27 deep cycle marines at Costco about 8 months ago, zero complaints to date. Three year sliding-scale warranty, and at less than $150 each you can buy two on that budget.

Thanks for the comments. Looks like I will give the NOCO charger a try and will check out Costco or Total Battery for batteries.

I've had the noco 3 bank in my paramount 21 and in my bassboat, all 3 banks on the trolling batteries, 3-4 yrs in service, no issues, i also have a single bank on each big motor and my pro kickers battery, they are less amps, but never an issue, out of 6 27 group batts, i've only had one that was bad when new, replaced right away by AIM Marine in Carp, they are Mercury quicksilver(Deka).i use northstar AGM's for starting motors. The noco will stop charging a battery if it detects an issue or low water level, so you can't cook your batts, top up with water and it will carry on.
