cleaner for prop exhaust

Post by bassman40 »

Hi,

I got a SS prop that inside is completely black with soot and want to give it a clean to get it back to shiny SS.
Any suggestions of cleaner and/or method?

thx

I would guess that any stainless-steel safe product that is made for mag/alloy/aluminum wheels would work. I used a wheel cleaner that came in a small (1/2 a can of pop size) jar, on stainless exhaust tips on my previous car. With a sponge and a lot of elbow grease, the black soot came off and the result was a like-new shine.

Try a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser and "Barkeeper's Friend" liquid cleanser, cheapest route available if it works. ;)

Try "Never Dull" I use it on my motorcycle pipes and it takes off everything but the chrome. It comes in a blue tin and you can pick it up at Canadian tire.
