Need a recommendation in the Gatineau area

Post by Kerrazy »

Looking to find someone to just have a thorough once over my outboard.

A little background info, it is a 60HP 2stroke 3 cylinder Mariner. Likely an 89

It was converted from an oil tank to mixed fuel. I am seeing oil running from the top leg down the leg and assuming my oil mix is a little heavy.

The previous owner said a ratio of 50:1 is what is needed.

Also, I am finding my consumption of fuel kinda heavy. It will get up on plane fairly well and will do 27-32MPH at WOT, yet even at 21MPH my fuel consumption is pretty high (I Think).

If I run from the boat launch at Sans Cartier to Rideau Falls and back approx 4 Nautical Miles each way, I will consume about a have a tank of fuel. So approx 12 litres. That seems pretty thirsty. Yet, maybe not.

I did take the carbs off, and they looked really clean, I believe the PO took pretty good care of the engine.

Anyhow, I am thinking I should have someone else other than my self have a look at it and adjust things.

So any recommendations on the dark side are appreciated.
