Hey guys,

I'm looking for a good travel cover for my motor for when I'm travelling on those gravel side roads to keep the dust from accumulating, any good suggestions out there? Looking for something that won't scratch to motor as well.. do u guys even put one or u don't bother with it..

I haven't used one on mine but I've seen them the odd time at Princess auto, reasonably priced as well!

I see you are powered by Mercury. Check out the covers on www.mercurydockstore.com. These are custom fit covers for your particular engine. I had my dealer include one when I bought by rig in 2010. I use the cover religiously and the Merc still looks like the day I took delivery. With a custom fit it does not flap around when being trailered and the cover is fully lined so it will not scratch. They are not cheap but in relation to the cost of the motor it's a pretty reasonable expense to protect your investment.

They are pretty nice but they don't cover the whole motor though, but it's a good protection for sure

The only ones I've ever seen that cover the whole motor are the bass pro ones. I don't think they have the fit you're looking for though.

Yeah theirs a few to choose from but hard to pull the trigger when u can't see them in person and see how they are made..

Take a run over to one of the renegade qualifiers when one is close to you, I'd imagine one of those guys would have on. Personally, I don't have one and have no desire to get one.

These covers are just for the cowling of the engine? Or do they cover up the entire lower end as well? I live on a dirt road and never considered protecting the lower unit from dirt and debris. Also wondering if any of you guys place your motor in gear before hitting the highway to prevent the prop from turning, increasing the life of your bearings and such in the lower unit.

The covers are for the head of the motor, I haven't seen anything that covers the whole engine.
Putting the engine in gear for travel is a good idea so the prop does not spin. I'm not sure it would cause a problem with a seal but can't hurt.

if you are doing a long gravel road, and you want added protection, you can add a good quality garbage back to cover the prop and the motor gearcase (https://www.homedepot.ca/en/home/p.cont ... 49142.html)....use a bungee or electrical tape to hold in in place, then install the motor cover.

I have these motor cover on my main motor and my kicker.

Very thick cover....you won't regret this purchase.
