Reusing gaskets?

Post by Wrexxer »

Good day folks,

I've just changed my oil pump in my 2004 DF140 Suzuki outboard.

I was wondering if any of the gaskets are reusable?

I have the valve cover gasket which is rubber and the engine holder base which is aluminum.

Any of these 2 reusable?

Not trying to save money, it's just that the parts are not in stock.

Thanks

Gaskets that were under compression should never be reused. You might get away with it and you may not. If the gasket is easy to get at, you can try it and see if it leaks.

If the gasket is internal or hard to replace, you should go with new.

Good luck

Gaskets are meant to be replaced.
as stated before you might get away with re-using them, but in the long run it is better to find them and replace them.
