Boat, boats and more boats.... and motors!!

Post by JimW »

A couple weeks ago my buddy and I made the trip from Eastern Ontario down to the Toronto International Boat Show to have a look around.... not in the market for anything, but we took my truck with trailer hitch just in case. LOL

Lots of big pleasure craft boats with big engines and bigger price tags if you had $500 grand or more just laying around.

I love my 2008 Starcraft Fishmaster 196 with my 150 and 9.9 kicker, and would love to upgrade to the new version but with the current price tag plus still having to add a kicker motor and electric trolling motor for another $10K.

I did like this and thought it might be a good add on to my boat when the fishing is slow in the summer.

Here are a couple other boats in the style I fish out of.... deep V aluminum in the 20 foot range designed for trolling...

Too small of a boat for me but a new design by Princecraft, a 17.5 foot long boat with a "blunt" nose that creates a much larger bow section comparted to other boats the same size with a point nose.

More boats...

An interesting new boat manufacturers at the show was UMS Boats (Ukrainian Marine Solutions)
https://www.umsboat.ca/

They build heavy duty aluminum all welded boats. The seemed well built and some interesting designs.

Mercury had both sides of the coin for motors...

their new all electric outboard .... I think this one was the equivalent of around 5 hp

And the the "KING" of the water the Verado V12 7.6 L 600 hp .... It is over 7 feet tall and weights 1200 pounds!! What a beast and the coolest thing is the new "pod-drive-like" steering of this new engine in which the powerhead does not rotate for steering, only the gear case below the midsection rotates for steering. Boat show pricing around $100,000!!!

Yes prices definitely up there. I will look for you at the Ottawa show, I might be there the Friday with some students, if not then either Saturday or Sunday.
