Good St. Lawrence muskie caught?
Word comes from a reliable source that a Gananoque man pulled a 60", 57 pound muskie from the River a couple of days ago.
He and a friend were fishing from a
CANOE
Unfortunately, it was kept and is on its way to be mounted.
I'll post more info as it becomes available...

I think you are refering to Duckboat Dave , it's a duck boat with a 30 hp on it . I believe it was a double eye hook and the fish died unfortunately.I don't believe he would have kept it had he had the choice .I was talking to him at the MCI outing in Ganon. and he contacted the fish during the outing and vowed to catch it ,, but with better end results and the lenght girth conversion put the fish at over 60 lbs

The fish was actually caught by Sal Ratolo fishing
with Duckboat. It was 58"x28" [56.8lbs.]. I was
talking to Sal last nite and what MuskyMatt says
was true. They are both experienced, live release
fisherman and they agreed that the fish had absolutely
no chance of surviving if released. Sal felt pretty crappy
about killing the fish but I told him that these things can
and do happen even to the most dedicated and careful
live release fishermen!

I'm always sorry to learn of muskies (especially large ones) being kept, and I hope they definitely gave her a fighting chance and spent some time on revival before making the decision to keep her.
In any case, I can't imagine the absolute THRILL that fish must have provided. I would love to see pics. An absolute fish of a lifetime, I would think.

Thanks, Dad, for taking me fishing when I was a kid.
