Swap Themes

Are you a fly fisherman who like to swap flies with others? This idea was brought to my attention a little while back and I think we should give it a try.

Swap Themes

Post by Todd B. »

Ok, given that it's March already I figure that we have time form one possibly two more swaps before we're back on the water. Rather than just post a theme I thought I'd get some input from everyone. Is there are particular style (i.e. nymph, emerger, etc), or pattern (i.e. attractor, caddis, stonefly, etc) that people are interested in?

Cheers,
Todd

Since dry fly hackle is expensive, we could have a "No-Hackle Dry Fly Swap." Examples of no-hackle dry flies include: X-Caddis, F-Fly, Comparadun, CDC Caddis, and the Usual.

A couple ideas I have come across before include:

1. Swap where everyone has to use the same set of materials

2. Theme based on flies by a well known flyfisher/tyer. For example:

Lee Wulff - Wulff series
Bob Clauser - Clausers
Brian Chan - Chironomids
Skip Morris - Skip Nymphs
Hans Van Klinken - Klinkhammer Series

Just a couple ideas but I am good with Paul's suggestion too.
