I've heard the same about the movement. I've had some great success drop shotting larger then typical baits so that's the main reason I wanted to try them but if that doesn't pan out I think they would work excellent Carolina rigged. I think they were new for 2014 but here's a pic for anyone who hasn't seen them. Ed's got them in stock.TheMaverick wrote:Very intrigued with these, might need to pick up a few packs.jona38 wrote: -Jackall Scissor Comb 6''.
From what I’ve seen, those legs/combs just never stop moving.

-Champion 763sf, my new drop shot rod.
-Livingston Dive Master 14, I don't know about these cranks but it was in the sale bin so what the hell.
-Realis Spinbait 90.
-Jackall Scissor Comb 6''.
You'll love the 763sf it's one of my favorites. I find it works great for fishing a heavier drop shot setup 1/2oz or so, in current e.g the St.Lawrence River.

New to me this year that I just cant wait to use are
*new Simms G4 Pro Jacket and Pro Dry bibs NEVER GETTING WET FISHING AGAIN
*2 new Stradic ci4+ in the 2500 size for those pesky lac seul walleye
*calcutta 400D strapped onto a compre 8'6" musky stick FOR MUSKY SIZED PIKE
* A whole whack load of smartbait quick jerks in 100 and 110 sizes- Really nice looking jerkbait that the walleye and pike will munch up!
* and still undecided if I will be adding a NRX 852 for rip jigging
gonna be a good year!!!
cant wait

Great stuff
Should have added the jackal pompadour.
Also will be focusing on walleye and pike more this year before bass season, instead of pannies
AND getting the motor put back together!

Northam White spinnerbait.....over and over and over again !!
There will be an influx of Great Grey Owls in the winter of 2017
Re: What are you looking forward to trying this year - part
Gear wise, not to much new for me really. I'm going to pick up a 7'2 dropshot rod and give that a go instead of the 6'8. I'm hoping this helps the hookset ratio, although it was getting pretty good at the end of last year. Might put a CI4+ on it but that combo would be a bit expensive for a guy who leaves his rods out in plain site too often while tied at the dock, and/or has random kids fishing and using his stuff all the time. We will see
I do want to re-visit my jerkbait setup too. It's in the top 3 of rigs used all year long. Right now I have a 7'2 compre paired with a few year old stradic. It works well, and I can cast it a mile, but I find it a bit clunky. Could use some opinions here haha!

I see quite a few people talking about this Pompadour. My concern would be it losing its action once the Wings get a few weeds on them. Seems only the slightest bit of grass would cause it to lose the wing slap.
Don't get me wrong, I love the old jitterbug. And its a rush to see/hear a large inhale a top water. Just thinking the Pompadour won't be that reliable. And they aren't giving them away....

If you think it's expensive (and it is), check out the Imakatsu Aventa Crawler...
Realistically, many baits you have to pick where to use them. This is one of those baits.

It's a JDM hardbait, it must be able to load the boat!
I couldn't resist and picked up a couple, you'd be hard pressed to find a topwater that makes more racket & commotion!

No I'll be pitchin with it. Truthfully, other than cranks and frogs I rarely cast all that far from the boat especially in heavy cover.
A few Pompadours found their way to the house recently. Grew up throwing a Crazy Crawler so this is like graduating..

Well, that is what I figured you were going to say. I don't think the Aldebaran is up my alley but I'm sure you will be impressed with what I will be buying.
As stated before, I don't want to jinx myself so you'll just have to wait.

That's an interesting perspective. I never thought about how far I cast from the boat based on technique.RJ wrote:

things I cast in heavy cover
1) frogs - 8 foot backbouncing st croix avid series custom (built by me) using a curado 200dhvs reel with 50 lb power pro (PP)
2) spinnerbaits - 7 ft MH St Croix Legend Elite (blue green flip colour). Curado E 7.1 with PP 50 lb
Things I cast, not in heavy cover
Everything else including drop shots
