fall strategy

Post by swampsinger »

Its seems like insect activity has dropped off. Is there a species or bite to concentrate on for the fall. Open to suggestions.

Why not try streamers and a sinking line. Should work for most species now.

Once the water temps drop the crayfish disappear and the SM switch over to baitfish for the fall pig out!

I'm still getting bit with the nymphs, upd the size a bit to # 6 stone fly black. Change of species though was surprised with two pike, then even more surprised with three pickerel.
Then I thought about it some more "rapids below the dam right at dark" where else would you catch pickerel. Even with the fly rod.
I also noticed the leopard frogs are starting to migrate.
