With the downpour and cold front that settled in last weekend, I was certain the fish would be relocating to the deeper waters.
Come tournament morning on Muskrat lake, we decided to stick to our strong suit by going against the odds and hit the shallow flats. Although dropshoting and going finesse would be ideal for the conditions, we like to power fish, throw topwater, wakebaits and cranks.
Wasn’t long until we boated our first fish, a quality one at that.
As I don’t like to settle on one fish to dictate a pattern, we kept at it until the second one was boated.
With a couple of 3lb’ers in the well, it was fair to assess we’d be milking the flats! (2’-5’ deep).
We kept at it all day, ended up switching spots late afternoon for what were similar conditions, and our 5th one was in the well.
Sometimes you need to trust that gut feeling, and just grind it out.
New to me, and a bold move by the old man trying it out for the first time tournament morning, but this topwater popper produced quality bites.
Get out there and grind!

If fishin ain't your mission, then you can kiss my Bass!
Re: A little Bump & Grind
Glad you figured it out guys!
It was a tough day out there for us as well. We should have clued in earlier but I couldn't catch a bass on a DS if my life depended on it. All three of our (none of which I caught...) we on a popper.

Had it not been for The "Helmer Fudds" moving in on part of our territory ... we could have culled the 2.7 and 2.9
