No Doe Tags - They Are LAUGHING At Me!!!!

Post by scarkner »

I have been hunting deer for close to 15 years... still haven't shot one!

Thankfully I do seem to be a good-luck charm for the groups I hunt with so I usually end up with some venison in the freezer.

But what really amazes me is how the deer KNOW that I don't have a Doe Tag. Every year that I haven't had a doe tag, that's when the doe's practically come up and lick my face.

Case in point was this weekend...

FIRST deer came within 10 feet of me. I was just sitting on a rock with almost no concealment. It was very high wind so she couldn't smell me. It is an interesting video to watch as she changes position to try to scent me, then bobs her head to see if I will move.

Word spread... the next day THREE deer came to laugh at me. All Does. They came near last light to about 30 feet away (poor video).

In total, we saw 15 Does at the hunting camp this year... no Bucks... no doe tags in the camp.
We were actually pretty happy though, to see 15 deer in just two days at camp is really incredible.

Tough sleddin'. Birdee has no Doe tag either and we sat and we pretty much sat and had dinner with one Saturday and Sunday... Amazing to watch em at 12 yards and be able to control yourself enough to go on Facebook Live..

In the end it is all about getting out and enjoying the outdoors and deer hunting is the one thing that really takes lots of patience. Nice to see deer and sucks with no doe tag. Keep after them

Just stay positive Steve. If there's does about you know the boys will be sniffing around. Good luck for the rest of the week.

Funny, thats how it goes sometimes.
One of the enjoyments I get while deer hunting - is watching deer I choose not to harvest.
Either no choice due to no tag, or, having an antlerless tag and choosing to wait for a trailing buck.

This year, had a button buck hanging near me. When he left, I would bleet him back in... it passes the
time and you can't beat a live decoy to set other deer at ease.

Oh I am positive, just think that this was the "most crazy" yet for me to have not one but FOUR opportunities to shoot a doe that I had to let go in just a two day period.

Sadly that's probably it for me this year as lots of business trips and other duties make it unlikely that I will get out again...
