Beginners Luck - Musky 2017

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Beginners Luck - Musky 2017

Post by Jake Gaudet »

Haven't been one to post fishing reports in the past but... I figured during a slow afternoon in the office and a good day of fishing last week why not.

A buddy and I set out on a musky mission last Saturday morning, first time ever seriously targeting Musky and first time fishing this section of the RIdeau. Went into it without any expectations and a pretty open mind and were rewarded.

Hit the water before sunrise and boated the first one and biggest of the day on a figure 8 before 6am. Didn't have a scale or tape measure but my best guess would be somewhere in the 12-15lbs range.

Spent the rest of the day covering lots of water and hooked into another 4 decent fish. Musky look great with a little extension of the arms in a photo lol. All in all I was expecting to grind all day and maybe get 1 or 2 if we were lucky so I was happily shocked to end up catching 5 in a day... Now it's time to search for the big mama gator.

Great stuff! You could spend YEARS and never do 4 in a day again!

Ain't that a hoot!! 5 in one day. I thought they were fish of tern thousand casts. Better to be lucky than good sometimes.
