river bass

Post by swampsinger »

I got out three times this week for smallies on the fly. I found the Rideau tailraces had normal water flows for wading but the larger fish harder to come by
top fly pearl zonker #6. Mississippi provided a good number of decent fish however the wading was tricky due to higher water flows. Top flies were both heavily weighted to get deeper in the current, grizzly buggar and large bh golden stone.

Every now and then the mississippi coughs up a 20" for me, and some oversized fallfish.
Top fly not so much a fly but a color, black stonefly nymph. black leech pattern, and black pats rubber legs.
