This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

2017 ice bungalow Nippising review

Post by FishingFrames »

First off, I’d suggest planning and getting the booking down, whoever you go with by the end of this month. For us, it was important to try and pick a date as close to a time we thought would work for our gang and have safe ice. If Northern Ontario is a benchmark for this years ice season - looks like we’re a few weeks ahead of time from last year. I’ve seen photos of guys on first ice wayyyy up north already and several inches in North Wisconsin. Can you tell I’m itching to go out??! Lol

Several years ago we chose Anglers Haven and were so impressed by their hospitality that we stayed with them again Jan 2017. Just all around from first getting there to leaving. They made us feel like we were on an all inclusive vacation. It immediately puts the whole gang in a super charged, pumped up exciting weekend. We ran out of beer the 3rd day and Marc And Shelley scooted to the beer store and grabbed us beer. Above and beyond, one should be well prepared before hand. A good tip on delivery was in order - anyone with some experience in the service industry would do the same.

The important stuff - The fishing was fantastic. The grounds they have us on is top notch. It was constant action all day for us. And if we wanted to Move - Day huts also available. We all took turns making one guy use a spoon or lure when we didn’t get any action (rare) to try and bring fish in. Most of us just wanted to chill, drink, eat have set lines and not think about the stresses of family and life. Lots of laughing and buddy managed to clear out the hut with some magic gas we know he was incubating for the trip!! Lol

Both times we went, I managed to hook into 30inch fish which you can imagine, lit up the place.

If your into fish porn, my favourite! I have tiny clip of the monster fish below.

I’m not affiliated with anglers haven - but good business deserves good referrals from good customers.

I haven't heard a decent report from Nippising in years, interesting.

The slot makes it tough. Sooo many good eaters...but they have to go back.

Yep, if you're into catch and release Nipissing isn't bad. We caught 30 walleye one day. Not a single keeper.

They key is to go as early in January as possible. I still think going with Adam's Outfitting on White Lake or Yannick in Rockland is a better bet.

One place I would love to check out that does Bungalows is Lake Temagami. Lake trout, whitefish, walleye and an apparently awesome night bite for ling. Would also love to do Quinte but as my post below shows, no bunglaows there just day huts. Still planning on going and meeting up with some GTA friends there this winter.

I did lake temagami with blue water ice bungalows 3 years ago. Had there bungalows over 90 feet. Lakers would come in at about 45 to 70 feet on the flasher and chase your spoons. Ended up with 15 between 3 and 6 pounds. 1 whitefish and 1 ling. Was very impressed. Best bungalow experience i have had and have also been to nipissing twice. Will be trying to book a bungalow on lake temagami this year even though i do believe blue water ice bungalows has since shut down.
