My dad (69 yrs old) has fished Charleston since he was a little kid. The fishing seems to have really slowed down on Charleston. Hence, the reason to move north. Kashwakamak was suggested to us, so we'll have to see how it goes.

Kashwakamak Lake

We are making another fall trip and thought I would ask for some advice on this lake. Can any of you give me some suggestions for bass on this lake? I've read some previous posts but the fishing seems pretty tough up there. We used to fish Charleston but thought we would try our luck a little furthe...

Well, I took some of your advice and was practicing not breathing but I don't think the dizziness and blackouts I experienced will be very safe out on the water. Seriously, we won't have any kids with us so that isn't a concern. I have some Muskol 100% Deet and OFF with 25% Deet. I was also re...

Mosquito madness

Looking for a little guidance concerning mosquitos at dusk and while doing some night fishing. A few of us are coming up to Charleston Lake in two weeks and wanted to get some opinions on mosquito repellant. I have some 100% deet and some other stuff you can buy at the store but was wondering if any...

Thanks for the info MM,

I need to talk to the others but since we will be only fishing three days, we'll most likely miss the festivities. We're already camping in the park, do you know what area the event is being held? I may try to slip over for a few minutes to say hello.

Great post OD. Three of us are heading up to Charleston in two weeks planning to catch some SM and LM. Last year we got sort of skunked other than a few bass and one big pike. We did have a little fun cathing a ton of perch one afternoon. Much better eating than the Dinty Moore stew  Anyway, I'...

Good Luck Ontario. We'll be heading up there on July 21. Keep us posted with a fishing report.

Hey Ganman, maybe well run into each other in July.

Thanks for the update Andre.

Last year we didn't have a problem leaving out boat docked while we were camping/fishing for three days. I hope it's the same result in July.

Andre,

What did they do to the boat launch at the park?

We are traveling there near the end of July and I hope the waters don't look like your picture.

Charleston Lake Boat Rental

Just a quick post for a little bit of assistance about renting a boat on Charleston Lake from July 21 - 23. I have contact information for Kelsey's Marina but are there any other places to rent a 14' aluminum boat with at least a 9.9 HP motor? If you have contact information (email address or phone ...

Thank all for the feedback. This site always gets me pumped up for the bass fishing season.

I'll have to see about the boating situation and choose my lake from that.

Hey ganman, It's me PSU. Just wanted to touch base early in the year, we'll be making out way up to Charleston Lake near the end of July. I saw you did pretty well on the pike, hopefully the bass are ready too bite this summer. I am not sure if we will be able to get to the lakes you mentioned, I th...
