Growing up on the banks of the St John river in Fredericton we used to net a fish called gaspereaux to go with our fiddleheads. Of course we also ate shad. These fish are really bony but once you get to the meat a delicious feast. Does anyone know if either species are available around Ottawa ?

In the store on Merivale, behind the beerstore, just inside the door , on the wall facing the parking lot, there are storm jigs and packages of plastic crawly things.

Any good pickerel fishing from shore
My wife uses a cane but that does not stop her from being a fishing fanatic. We would like to try for some pickerel within two hours of Ottawa. Can anybody suggest a location where we could fish from shore. Not after trophies, just a relaxing time beside the water
Thanks, Dave

Thanks, Dave

Where to moor my boat ?
I'm thinking of buying a 26' Bayliner, 20 years old, in good condition. I have never owned a large boat and am looking for any advice, especially on where to keep it. Will use it mainly on week-ends and for fishing. Can anybody suggest a marina. Thank you
