Looks like a good time! Now to wait for the hardwater and get back at it.

Re: Which lake?
Thanks for the suggestion! I launched at a free launch near the bird sanctuary area at the other end of the lake. Caught a great mix of species, I'll definitely be heading back there again soon.

Awesome, maybe I'll give that a try. Any suggestions on a good launch? (preferably free, if there is any)

Which lake?
Hey guys. My in-laws are visiting from the states, and we plan to go out tomorrow morning. I've mainly only fished the rideau river with them but we'd like to try somewhere else. Any favorite recommendations for a good body of water to try within about an hour drive? Thinking somewhere on the Ottawa...

Nice catches, looks like a good time!
Any idea of the approximate depth you found them at? Were you bouncing them off the bottom?

Re: How to NOT catch out of season bass?
Thanks guys. Maybe I'll try some deeper waters and bigger lures. If nothing else, it's a good excuse to buy new ones!

How to NOT catch out of season bass?
Hey guys, I was out fishing a couple times on the weekend - targetting pike. I wasn't very successful with pike, but accidentally caught a couple out of season bass. Each time I promptly put them back in the water and moved on to another location. My question is, what tactics would you use to target...

Re: Are there fish in the Rideau?
There's a small bay on the West side of the Rideau below Kars and north of the boat launch on the east side of the river. The entrance goes back under the little highway bridge south of Kars. Almost totally weed beds with a channel that twists through it. I've pulled bass out of there up to 6# fish...

Re: Fly fishing trout near Ottawa
I'll check out the calabogie area online. Trying to stay on the Ontario side for now, but may do Quebec in the future so the fishing map site will be useful.
Thanks for the pointers!

Re: Fly fishing trout near Ottawa
Its going to be tough to target trout within 2 hrs and not leave Ontario. I would try for panfish and crappie once the ice goes out of the Rideau locks. They cooperate a lot more than trout, especially for a novice. Smallmouth are also a good option once the season opens, they are a blast on fly ge...

Fly fishing trout near Ottawa
Hi guys, I've just started to get into fly fishing. I would love to go for trout somewhere not too far from Ottawa. Could anyone point me in the direction of where I might start? I'll be wading and hoping not to drive more than 2 hours-ish. Hoping to stay in Ontario for now. Also, what time in the s...

Looking for a manual ice auger
Hey,
Anyone have a spare manual ice auger sitting around they'd want to sell? Don't need anything fancy, as long as it works. Any diameter.
Thanks,
Silas
