Respect people first, property second share the water

I'm an avid fisherman who owns a a cottage property with a very long shoreline. In the 10 years that I have been spending time there I have never had an altercation with anyone. When we sit on the docks people give us room, I have never heard or seen anyone bounce a cast off my boat. When we are swi...

Looking for recommendions for Spring trip 2008-North Ontario

Hi fellow fishHawkers. I'm looking for recommendations for a trip I'm planning for next year. I'm looking for a lodge or outfitter that can accomodate 4-8 guys for a week long trip. We are looking for a lake or system of lakes that would contain potential Trophy Northerns and/or Muskie as well as am...

Jiggi'n for Lakers

Wow nice one Swamp Donkey! It definitely looks like those jigs produce. 8) I have a bunch of similar ones in white and black that I have been trying out for walleye. I've pulled a few eyes into the boat out of the Mississippi, but it sure would be nice to haul in a few lakers for a tasty camping fea...

Mazinaw Lake - lake Trout

Just 2 weeks away from the yearly camping trip to Bon Echo provincial park on the Mazinaw lakes. In previous years my buddies and I have had a go at the bass, pike, perch and walleye of this and adjacent lakes. We've boated lots of bass a few pike and loads of panfish which is a hoot for the kids. W...

Does any one have the specs on this specific year and class of trolling motor? I think there was also a 65lb version and maybe others as well. MinnKota Maxxum 54lb thrust, 52inch shaft, 24V,-Year-1998 I've tried the web and the MinnKota web site but I haven't found anything. I'm sure a copy of the u...

BackRoads Map book + grain of salt = destination

Thanks SD, I wasn't reading the Back roads book but I am aware of what you mean. Sometimes it is fairly acurate but other times it gives you just enough info to get yo good and lost. It has lots of pretty pictures though. Thanks for the tip on the lake lodges. BackRoads Map book + grain of sa...

Trip Report - pics to follow

Hi guys, thanks for all the tips and info. :D After a few paddles and a couple of portages we made it into our campsite. We couldn't have asked for better weather, except for a little too much wind during the day on Saturday. That really made it dicey in the canoes. The bite was really off during th...

Trolling

Thanks Buzzer, I don't have any lead core but I may try a 3-way swivel or sinker-on-line set-up if I have to go deep. I'm told that the trout are all over the lake at this time of year.

Algonquin Trout - from canoe - any tips?

I will be heading into the park May 4th by canoe for a few days of camping and trout fishing (there may be other species but I'm told by the guys I'm going with that they usually target trout). I don't have a fly rod and wouldn't have time to learn to use one before I go. So I will be fishing with r...
