Re: Looking for Help on Marine Battery
I bought one of the cheaper LiFePO4 batteries on Amazon to replace my lead acid battery I use for my trolling motor on my canoe (the lead acid battery was no longer holding a charge). I've used the LiFePO4 battery for one season and so far it has been great. I went with the Vatrer 12V 100AH . One th...

Re: Shirley's Bay 2025 Ice season
@CCLad, sounds like you had a great season! I was out there for a couple of hours after work on Monday, but no luck
I'm planning to give it one last try after work today and then that might be it for my ice season. Cheers!

Re: Bay of Quinte info
Thanks for the report Fisherman 89, no we didn't go cause of the snow storm that weekend. I'm glad you went ,yes i heard there was a lot of current in that area, looks like 1/2 oz buckshot are a must. Now with all that snow looks like i might have to wait next year. Will try to go earlier next seas...

Re: Bay of Quinte info
Hey Wally, did you end up getting out to the Bay of Quinte? I was out there for my first time Feb 14th and 15th. I stayed in Napanee and fished the "Long Reach" section of the bay. There is a bait shop called Dew Drop In that has minnows for $6 a dozen! Fishing was slow for me and I only e...

Re: What's the etiquette?
Like Smitty said, if no one is there when you show up I'd treat it like the shack isn't there. If the shoal is small enough that you have to get with 10-15 ft I'd say that's perfectly fine. If they are already there fishing, then I'd treat it like any other pop up shack or group of fisherman and kee...

Those are some nice looking perch and it's always a bonus when you don't need to drag out the hut!
I'm also digging the new Garmin/AquaVu setup!

Re: Live Sonar on Ice!!
The MegaLive and Garmin Livescope both look awesome. Most of the "YouTube" fishermen I follow use those units now. It's crazy how they can locate a fish 60+ feet away, drill a hole right above it and sharpshoot it! The transducers are still too pricey for me, but my Garmin Echomap is compa...

Re: Lanark Highlands Fishing Report
Nice report Bud ,i'm glad somebody had success, it's been slow for me this year again. I will try minnow heads next time. Will check Shirley's bay next time......Wally. Thanks Wally. They aren't always successful fishing trips, but if I catch one or two of the target species I consider that a good ...

Re: Lanark Highlands Fishing Report
continued... Things went pretty quiet after that catch. I setup both my lines outside of the shelter and made myself some lunch. Grilled cheese sammies! PXL_20250118_180338313.jpg I decided to stay put for the evening bite window, and at 4:20PM, while fiddling with my Buddy Heater, I had a big mark ...

Lanark Highlands Fishing Report
I haven't seen many fishing reports lately, so here is my latest fishing excursion from yesterday (January 18, 2025). I had originally wanted to try Bay of Quinte this weekend (I have never fished it), but due to the mild temps, rain, and wind gusts in the forecast, I opted to stay closer to home in...

Re: 2024-2025 Ice Reports
Made it out to Lanark yesterday for a day of fishing on Park Lake and Woods lake. Ice was about 5 inches or maybe a bit more. 4 inches of clear and 1-2 inches of cloudy on top. Caught a stud of a walleye to make the trip worth it. Thanks for the update. I'm planning to go out on Friday, so I'll rep...

Re: 2024-2025 Ice Reports
I checked out a couple lakes in the Lanark area on Saturday too. Conditions were the same as you described for Constance Lake (2 to 2.5 in of ice). Nothing I would consider safe ice yet. I did fish for about an hour on one stocked trout lake right next to shore in ~4ft of water, but didn't have any ...

Re: Joes Lake Campsite
Oops, my bad. You mean this point?
I'm pretty sure that's private property (the crown land atlas says it's private). I think there's a house there too.
The campsite I posted would only be accessible by watercraft.
