Yes Hayden is 7 He hooked his first 40 when he was 4. that same year he chose his own lure, put it on, went down to the dock alone and within about 10 mniutes was trying to drag a 40 plus pike up onto the dock. One of our guests helped him get it up. He gave it the old gil plate hold and we got a gr...

It depends on what your throwing If your casting Suiks and other heavy stuff then you definitely need 100 lb titanium 12 -18 inches. Spooled up with 65 to 80 lb Power Pro. It is not usually the fish that wears out your leader it's all that heavy casting. If you hook into a 45 inch or larger pike it'...

I caught a few north of Great Bear Lake back in the 70s. They fought well but I wouldn't say any better than the lake trout that live in the rivers of the north. Certainly not a tough as Arctic Char. Grabbing a char is like trying to hold onto a writhing peice of slippery steel. Your fingers don't e...

30,000 acres, no road access, 4 hours in a plane and still less $.
You are right. If you live next to a good pike lake why travel anywhere?I've fished most of the "best " pike waters in Manitoba, Saskatchewan, NWT, and the Yukon. I still prefer Home. It's natural.

I was tired of two guys catching "nice" bass 20 years ago.
Your right sportfishing BC and Bob are enjoyable to watch.
Vince seemed like a nice guy. I think he road off into the sunset on a moose.

Here's a little story that might give you some ideas. In the spring of O4 on the first day out we worked a reed bed in the back of a long shallow bay. I look for bays with large reed beds, which of course are the dead and brown ones from last year, as the new ones haven’t emerged yet. The weather ...
