Roberto,

Most of the smallmouth we catch are in 15' to 18' of water. I mainly use tubes on a 1/8 oz. jig hook. But we use senko's and other worms also. You can fish the same, your just in a little deeper water. Don't be afraid to throw topwater either. They will find it!

Another great family trip

Another vacation has come and past. Again, the lake, and the area didn't let us down. We've been coming up to the same lake for years (Lombardy area). I take my hat off to the people of Perth and Smith Falls area. They are always pleasent. I'm sure some of us "tourists" have to get on your...

Not a frog, but a Torpedo in the frog color. My favorite bait! I use 1/0 EWG hooks for senkos, whacky style or texas rigged. I couldn't catch a fish on a crankbait to save my life!

Hey Bulldog, I just asked the same question. My family is heading to Canada Saturday. I'm from central PA and we got a little over 8" locally. How are you doing with the water?

Rain?

We have been getting hammered in central PA with rain. 8" of rain and finally a break is in the forecast. I'm heading to Lombardy this weekend for a week of fishing/relaxing. Is that area going to get a lot of rain from this system?

Justin, I must miss you by a week at Bass Lake. We go every year during July 4th week. We had a great year this year. We absolutely love the place! You couldn't ask for better owners either! I have a secret spot there also. Check out the smallie my 11 year old daughter caught. It's in Angling Idol t...

Steve,

I have a Garmin GPS 76. It does the job for me. I liked the Garmin's over the other brands.

10pointer,

I'm heading up to Bass Lake this Friday to spend a week. I'm not sure if this is the same Bass Lake as the one I'm going to though. I'm going to Bass Lake near Lombardy? It's a couple miles from Perth?

Thank you all for the information!!! I've already contacted some of these places and I'll check them out on my trip in July. Ganman, if I decide on Shawmere, would you care to join me for a day of fishing? I think I've narrowed it down to that place or somewhere on the Big Ridaeu Lake.

I wondered the same things as I'm looking for a place to stay. I'm from Pennsylvania and get the Conservation license. I take a picture and the fish go back in the water. I fish for the memories. I'm not saying I wouldn't keep a bigun to mount but it would have to be really big.

I must not have paid my bill either. :D I would be interested in what you have to offer Markus. I'm also looking at a place on Big Rideau Lake, is that a good lake?

Markus,

Any websites of the cabins/cottages on Turkey Point. It sounds like a family place. And maybe it's time to get over the fear.
