A few years ago we caught an eight pound pickeral and heard of a friend that said he lost a huge pike. This can be a good pickeral lake at certain times. Hope this helps a bit, Ciscoekid.

About fifteen years ago I used to put a small boat in at Brewers Park and fish from 6 pm untill midnight. I fished that stretch about four times a week . We caught some fish up to thirty pounds. We only saw Musky and bass no pike at all and we put a lot of time in. Pretty hard to get a boat in there...

I purchased a IMX GLoomis rod and payed a preety penny for it. One of the things I liked was it had a lifetime warranty on in. The problem was it broke a couple of years later and Shimano took them over and rewrote the warranty. They did cover me but with shipping I payed$100.00. They agreed it woul...

Everyone keeps saying 54 " is the minimum size for a Musky, that would be a real monster. I thought the minimum legal size was 44" on the Ottawa. Some bodies of waters can hold bass and lakers on the same spot . In the spring of course the bass are not open. We were after Lakers in 2003 bu...

The walleye at Shirley's are fun to catch because there can be a lot of fish but usually they are all between 12-14 inches at least 90% of the time. I have put in a lot of time over the last three seasons and the largest one was 23 inches and about 3 1/2 pounds. You would think with all those huts s...

Shirley's Bay Walleye survey

Hi all, this is my third year with a hut at Shirley's Bay. I have caught my far share of Walleye but have not yet caught any Walleye bigger than 3 1/2 pounds(1 only). Shirley's has a good population of small ones but they don't seem to be getting bigger. It's almost like when they get bigger they go...

Nobody I know seems to be really targeting these elusive tasty criters, maybe we could market them, call them CRISPY CRITERS. The saying you can't judge a book by it's cover goes a long way here, if Ling had pretty little pink spots on them they would probably be out of season right now because every...

Just came back from Shirley's Bay. I was setting up my hut on about 9 feet of water and on a rocky bottom. I managed to get 2 small walleye 14 inches and 5 nice perch between 8-10 inches. The bite was between 4 and 5 pm and then in slowed right down, hardly marking on the vexilar after 5pm. I will b...

I went about 100 feet out and drilled 1 hole it seemed to be about 9 inches. Ice thickness can change very quickly from spot to spot at this time of the year, Ciscoekid.

They are a specle but a different strain. I was told they were relics from the ice age. This could be the strain you might find in James bay. I am not 100 % either, Ciscoekid.

I own the Heater Buddy it has two settings 4000 or 9000 btu. It also has an oxygen sensor where it will shut down if it detects there is not enough oxygen. You can buy an adaptor hose that will allow you to set up propane outside. I know Princess auto had them on sale last year for $119.99 plus tax....
