I hate to see people keep Bass period. I live in Toronto and often fish Island lake in Orangeville or Valens or Montsberg and i hope the rubes that keep the Bass out of these impoundments choke on them. Those fish in the 3-4lb size are probably 15 year old or older. Mucho effort has gone into creati...

Just a point of interest there is a couple of regions in north east Ontario (sections 19 and 25) that have a year round open season for bass(probably 90% Smallmouth up there.) As for me i think Bass regs like regs for other highly desireable species should be specific to the waterbody involved (as t...

A couple of things. I'm a hardcore crankbait fisherman and I would say that the best crankbaits in my arsenal are Bagleys Baits. They are balsa baits and generally have a much more eratic action than a Rapala or virtually any plastic crank. Go for the Small Fry Series (Bass, Crappie, Sunfish, Walley...

I got one on L St Clair with the Williams Whitefish 6" and a chartruse twister tail running with 8 oz. trolling weight in the pro wash. If you are married to lucky Strike I believe their Canoe spoon is very similar to a Whitefish spoon at least in it's action but not its quality esp. finsh. Reg...

If any of you guys want to try out those kind of big Pike spoons there is a guy in Mississauga that has a ton of them and i think he would be interested in moving them out wholesale. The chap's name is Lou and he used to run a fishing store called Lucky Lous. Now he runs Western automotive at 905-62...

No probs Jim. I was doubley shocked to see that this year the Consumption Guide says that for Western L. Ontario the consumption for Smelt is 0. Thats down from 2 meals a month last year. Whats up with that? Maybe Love canal has sprung a leak! Anyway if you can' t eat a small plankton feeder like a ...

Never had that happen but 3 times i've had 2 fish hook up on one lure(crank). Twice it was 2 aggressive smallmouth Bass and once a smallmouth and a Sheephead. Sort of cool watching 2 fish tug against each other try to gain possetion of what they thought was food. regards Snidley

I'm not a fanatic catch a release fisherman but i do fish the Niagara a fair bit. I would say that those Lakers will not only taste horrible but that the toxicity of those fish will be off the scale(they are 0 on the Ontario Consumption Scale). That little bow is probable safe and reasonably tasty. ...

Try the largest version ( 6") of a Williams Whitefish spoon in silver or silver/gold and attach a bright twister tail on the back of it. Troll it in the prop wash and you will be pleasantly suprised. A Williams Wabler will not track well in this application and the Trophy is not made in a large...

I just got back from Bass Pro shops (the sale started today due to a slip up re their ad in the Toronto star) and came away with abot $250 worth of gear. I think i saved about $70 on a real and maybe $50 on lures which is good. However I live here in the GTA and I got there a day early and by a fluk...

I tried gulp and found that not only did they not produce but they don't even get a nibble where i fish. Yum Shakin worms on the other hand work excepionally well. Power baits or baits smeared with power gell also work really well. But those gulps I don't know. Regards Snidley

Millionaire CV-Z

I use a CV-z Millionaire and find it's great for the hard pullers like Salmon and steelies. It would easily subdue any green fish. The Magforce v cast control is about as easy to toss as can be. I've had 2 curados and i got rid of them cause they don't hold up to strong fish. great for Bass/Pike tho...

Red Sharpie

If you hooks are chrome as many spoons are try a red sharpie to make them red. It works well as Sharpies are waterproof. You do have to re apply from time to time especially if you are catching fish but it definitly works. Another thing i started doing this year with my casting spoons is trying on s...
