Lakers from a canoe
Haven't fished for lakers in this area, but I grew up on a lake trout lake. Around this time of year, if there is still a bit of ice on the lake, try to find a rocky beach bottom with about 10-12 feet of water. A herring rigged with a quickstrike on bottom always got me my limit and then some. The n...

Carp near Orleans
Thanx, Boss,
The carp fishiung doesn't have to be in Orleans. Anywhere within 45 min. drive, that can be fished from shore would be fine.

Lac des Quinze
I fished that lake a fair bit way back when. had some Ok luck, but nothing fantastic on the lake itself. Good spot is near grassy narrows, at the old bridge. If you go across from Moffet, up the Rogers River, i've has some really good walleye and big pike catches. This is going to sound real crazy, ...

Great piece of gear for catfishermen
I'm a bit of a turkey hunter (there is no comma or period after turkey!). When i was shopping for gear this year, i came across what has to be the best piece of equipment I've seen in a long time it's called a Head lite. it's a camo hunting cap with a tiny but powerful LED flashlight built into it. ...

I know this isn't really the place, but I don't know where else to ask. Does anyone know when and where there are any of the turkey hunting courses in the Ottawa area?

Keeping @#%%@!!!! shiners alive
Has anyone out there had any luck keeping emerald shiners alive? I tried using dechlorinated water in a 5 gal. pail, in my unheated garage. next morning, they were all tits up. The I got an air pump and air stone from my aquarium, new batch of minnows. Same results. I thought maybe it was too cold i...

Petrie rules
One of the things the city could do is to exempt fishermen (fisherpeople???) from the 9:00 p.m. closure. The by-law does state that the by-law coordinator or director has that power. Given that the ban is only at the North end of the causeway, however, it won't overly affect fishermen at the culvert...

Hot weather carp
What would be good spots to fish for hot-weather carp on the Ottawa or the Nation- preferably the East End? I got a nice one at Petrie this spring, and now I'm hooked. I'm just too new to this to know where to go. Can someone please tell where to go (Sorry, couldn't resist).
Thanx

Bait caster's elbow
The only thing that works is, after a day's fishing, lots of sex and alcohol. The pain will be there while fishing, but you won't care, you'll be looking forward to getting home.
