Wow. Surprised to hear about boater traffic. We thought it was off the Trent system and a little smaller than most other Kawartha spots. We'll have a couple of days during the week and will be going later in the season, so we should avoid the fair weather cottagers.

Thanks for the info. FD

Water level is fine. I was there on Sunday evening - you shouldn't have a problem. Boats of all sizes where coming and going. Have fun.

Boater Traffic

What's boater traffic like on a weekend between Becketts Landing and the 416 bridge like? Are you rocking and a rolling all the while? Boater traffic around Kar's drove me nuts last year.

Cheers

I have a 20 HP on a 14". I trailer motor DOWN. I always assumed that you needed auto tilt/trim to keep weight on your Transom Saver??? (Without having to tie down the motor so that it does not bounce out of the Transom Saver).

Thanks guys ...

ChampionNorm ... I think your post was the best advise. I used Castrol GTX 10w30 ... she's all put to bed ... and I'm not worried a bit now that it's all done ... fear of the unknown is a terrible thing ...

Winterizing (Engine Oil - API Service Classification)

Hey guys, I'm winterizing my 20HP myself for the first time (previously brought into the dealer each year). The motor is a 2006 (Honda). The spec in the manual says use SAE 10W30 ... now here's my issue ... API Service Classification (SG/SH/SJ). I did a quick bit of research on API Service Classific...

(My opinion), without a doubt, go with the 4 stroke!!! As far as I'm concerned, the weight thing is the 2 stroke marketing people's attempt to discredit the 4 stroke. I have a 4 stroke (20 hp on a 14' boat). I would suggest the 9.9 might be a bit small (but now we are getting into personal preferenc...

I have a similar setup. 14' with a 4 stroke 20hp. Is there really a need to use a transom saver on a boat/motor combo this small??

Thoughts?
