Nice that certain people can get information on the areas fishing Check your weather network app and you'll be provided with daytime highs & lows, wind direction/speed, possibility of precipitation and sunrise/sunset times. Volunteer for the weather network and you may be privy to adiabatic lap...

I kept a few splake recently (2 pounders) out of one of the lakes I fish with a diverse baitfish community.
It's flush wasn't nearly as red as the ones you caught and the stomachs were jam packed with tiny minnows 1" long.

Are you a fish processor by trade!? Those are some beautifully cut fillets, mine—in comparison—look like they were torn by hand. Interesting you chose to fish so shallow for the splake, judging by the colour of their flesh I wouldn't be surprised if they had freshwater shrimp in their bellies. Is th...

Thanks for all of the responses. After a recent trip to Cabelas I can confirm that the play in the handle assembly that I'm experiencing with the Curado 70 is not an anomaly. The Shimano casting reels and offerings from 13 fishing and Abu Garcia on display all behaved similarly. Good to hear about t...

My Curado 200i models to not exhibit this symptom at all, only the 70s of the same year. I have always found there to be some play in handles of shimano casting reels but not quite like this. Any gain in smoothness and refinement in this reel over previous generations is trumped by the feeling of th...

Interesting responses, specially when people use the word "confidence", I'd have to say that I have used Fluoro for that reason as well. Lately I have had issue with Fluoro (including sunline flipping fc) snapping at the knot. Ended up doing away with the leader and didn't seem to notice a...

So I have been using fluorocarbon leaders for bass for a while now. You know, to ensure the connection between rod and bait is invisible to the bass. Then I got to thinking... The bass don't seem to take exception to the ultra dark bristled weed guards of my flipping jigs https://mysterytacklebox.az...

I don't know about access to this particular lake but I'm sure the last thing these cottagers want on the lake are boats. I mean, unless it's their boats, just not your boat. "Can't you just go somewhere else, lots of lakes around" is always a good one. This was a trip I took a few years b...

slabfloater33 I'm sure you were joking around with your last comment as it couldn't possibly be taken seriously. Not only does the tiny fish I have in my hands look nothing like a splake but it came from a lake I targeted specifically for it's stocked arctic char. The lake has never been stocked wit...

bl8nt - no...we are all affected by the regulation as we cannot use dead minnows... The government asserts it authority by its ability to impose regulation, it has nothing to do with the consequence of not following the rules. The vast vast majority of people will follow the new rule! However, the ...
