Drilling for oil on the Madawaska Head Pond

Noticed this afternoon there is a barge and drilling rig half way between the dam and the Boeing Boat launch. Anybody know what is going on, there has been work trailers parked on the west side of the dam for a while now.

I was out on the Madawaska, trying for bass in the weeds in about 8' of water and caught a 15" pickerel on a white spinner bait. It was real yellow coloured, I have not caught too many of that colour on the Mad.

For my worm harnesses, I put a 'snap-on' bell sinker ahead of the snap swivel on my main line. Then the worm harness is attached to the snap swivel. Weight then runs up against the swivel, in the waters I fish not that many rocks etc so have never had problems with the weight attaching itself to the...

Looking for Uncle Josh Minnows

Was wondering where I can buy these minnows in the Ottawa area, got a jar from LB last year. Find they work ok for icefishing, if I'm too lazy to get real minnows. Thanks

Ice fishing Sled, with wind break

Looking for some ideas or plans on making a small box sled, with a built in wind break. I will be pulling this along the snow / ice by hand. Have seen pics on the net, of them with plywood ends that fold down and the back and top is a tarp. But can't find any reference to size etc. Wondering if anyb...

Boat Cover

Looking for a cover for my 14' fishing boat. It sits at the dock for the summer, so no trailering will be involved. Looked at a custom made cover, he wants $800.00? Was wondering if anybody has used one from the boat dealers ex Attwood, etc. Or where in the Ottawa area can I get the material from, h...

Worm harness parts

Starting to get low on my parts for making my worm harnesses (those darn Madawaska Muskies, catching them when not fishing for them). Looking to buy the beads, clevises and blades. Wondering if there is a shop in Ottawa that sells these items. Did buy them previously through mail order, from a place...

Muskies in Lake Dore??

Heard from a reliable source that a 17 lb, 41" muskie was caught in this lake in the past couple of weeks. Did hear that years ago they did stock the lake with muskies but they never made it. Was wondering if they are still in the lake or what?

Madawaska River Claybank Launch

Planing on heading out on the Madawaska River this weekend, launching from the Claybank Launch. First time on this part of the river was thinking of heading towards the Stewartville Dam. Was wondering if there is any dangerous areas I should watch out for, heard something about a shoal by some hydro...
